What a Relief!

What a Relief!

Florida’s highly successful Toll Relief Program is in its second year and many customers are continuing to see the benefits.

The program, which began its second year on April 1, 2024, and will continue until March 2025, is an initiative aimed at easing the financial burden on regular commuters, according to the Governor’s office. It offers substantial rebates to customers who own a Florida-based transponder (SunPass, E-PASS, Uni, and LeeWay) and make frequent tolled journeys. The program promotes and provides an incentive for consistent usage of toll roads.

Since the program’s inception in April, more than $164.5 million in Toll Relief credits have been issued, benefiting 1.2 million customers monthly. For the month of July, customers received account credits totaling $41.1 million.

Eligibility

To qualify for the Toll Relief Program, customers must meet specific criteria:

  1. Transponder Account: The customer must have an active Florida-based transponder account.
  2. Tolled Journeys: The customer must make a minimum of 35 tolled trips on a single transponder within a calendar month.
  3. Two-axle Vehicle: The customer must be operating a 2-axle vehicle.

Trips can be made on any of the tolled roads in Florida where transponders are accepted, including I-4 Express, Florida’s Turnpike, and other toll roads across the state.

Rebate Calculation

The rebate is calculated based on the number of tolled journeys made each month. Once a customer reaches the threshold of 35 tolled trips, they become eligible for a rebate. The rebate is currently 50% of the total tolls paid for that month and is automatically credited to the accounts of eligible customers on the 15th of the following month. Customers can view their rebates in their account statements.

Benefits

  1. Financial Savings: Regular commuters can enjoy significant savings on their monthly toll expenses.
  2. Encouragement to Use Tolled Roads: The program incentivizes the use of tolled roads, which can help reduce congestion on non-tolled roads and improve overall traffic flow.
  3. Ease of Use: With automatic tracking and rebates, the program is designed to be hassle-free for customers.

The Toll Relief Program supports frequent commuters and promotes the use of toll roads, enhancing the efficiency of the transportation experience for Florida motorists.
