Smishing Scam Texts and Emails are Increasing
SunPass

April 18, 2025– An upswing in Smishing texts and emails is occurring throughout Florida. Smishing is when a fraudster tries to get your personal information via text or email. SunPass® and/or the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) would never send a text or email requesting immediate payment for tolls. Do not click on any links and if you have questions about your SunPass® account, log into https://www.sunpass.com/en/home/index.shtml or call 1-888-865-5352 to speak with a SunPass® representative

If SunPass® needs to contact its customers they would be contacted by an email from customerservice@sunpass.com or noreply@sunpass.com. Text messages would come from 78627. Non SunPass® customers, if they really owe an unpaid toll will receive communications via the U.S. Postal Service.

Consumers are encouraged to report smishing attempts to the Florida Attorney General’s Office at 1-866-NO-SCAM (1-866-966-7226). Visit www.MyFloridaLegal.com to find more consumer tips or to file an online complaint.
