Maintaining Reliable Travel on I-4 Express

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) manages dynamic tolling on the I-4 Express lanes as part of standard operations. Starting Monday, February 24, FDOT will implement dynamic tolling on these lanes, a well-established method to reduce congestion and maintain reliable travel times.

Drivers are encouraged to review the overhead electronic signs before entering and while traveling on I-4 Express to make informed decisions about their route. Toll rates adjust throughout the day based on traffic conditions in the express lanes, but drivers will never be charged more than the rate displayed on the sign when they pass it. I-4 Express users only pay for the distance they travel

Using I-4 Express is always optional, and drivers can choose from other free general-use lanes or alternative routes to reach their destination.

Additionally, per Florida Statute, if a customer’s average travel speed for a trip in an express lane falls below 40 miles per hour, the customer will be charged the minimum express lane toll.
